Away fans are housed in the new North Stand – with roof – the normal allocation being 2,000 tickets (should be plenty for a midweek fixture!!)

Disabled facilities

Between 6 & 8 spaces are available in a special stand shared with home fans between the North Stand & West Stand. Fully enclosed, warm & protected from elements, behind glass (which some people do find means a loss of atmosphere). Cost – free for disabled person, 10.00 for helper. Please contact Karen at CPFC box office for booking details. Parking is available in the car park behind the Ora Stand, on a first come first served basis. If full the visitor’s car park is close to the disabled entrance. For blind supporters there are 10 headsets with hospital commentary in the disabled stand.

DIRECTIONS & CAR PARKING
************************

From the West & North: Leave the M1 at junction 37 and turn left at the roundabout into Dodworth Road (A628). Follow this road straight until reaching the Town End roundabout and turn right into the Barnsley Western Relief Road dual carriageway.

Continue until the roundabout and take the 2nd exit onto Westway, at the next roundabout, go straight over into Harborough Hill Road. At the roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway, go all the way round and back up Harborough Hill Road, turn left after 0.4 miles into Pontefract Road. Follow this road for half a mile then turn left into Grove Street for the stadium.

From the South West: Leave the M1 at junction 36 and follow signs to Barnsley (A61) onto the A61 Sheffield Road. Take the 1st exit at Birdwell Roundabout and continue straight on following signs to Town Centre and Football Ground.

FROM ALL DIRECTIONS:

At motorway roundabout follow "Barnsley F.C." signs into Dodworth
Road. In 1/4 mile, turn left at the traffic lights into Pogmoor
Road.

In approximately 1 mile (hospital on the left) turn right at the
traffic lights into Gawber Road and in 1/3 mile follow road round
sharp bend into Victoria Road and continue to traffic lights.

Continue straight on at traffic lights into Old Mill Lane
travelling down hill for 1/3 mile to traffic lights. Continue
straight on at the next set of lights (100 yards) taking the right
hand lane.

Follow signs "Pontefract A628" turning right at B&Q roundabout
(McDonalds/Asda on left) into Harborough Hill Road. Travel uphill
and in approximately 1/2 mile at the top of the hill branch left
(sign posted Pontefract A628) then immediately left into Queens
Road (sign posted Metrodome/football visitors).

The best place to park is the official visitors car park at the top of Queens Road on the right hand side. Cost 2.00 – rarely gets full.

BY RAIL
*******

Barnsley Interchange railway station is within walking distance & is served by trains running between Sheffield & Leeds. From the train station turn left away from the town centre, towards the bridge that the dual carriage way runs over, proceed under bridge, turn left up slip road, take first road on right (Queen’s Road), head towards Queen’s Road Dental Care & Metro Dome complex at top of hill. Ground is visible from here.

BY BUS

It’s quicker to walk from the town centre bus station.

Pubs
****

Drinking in the town centre is generally not recommended,
especially near the Bus & Train Stations.

Pubs for away supporters
************************

The Outpost - Sheffield Road, 2 mins walk from ground

Fealty and Firkin - Market Hill

The Prince of Wales – Eldon Street North – Popular pub attracting a good range of supporters. Darts, pool, TV, families welcome. Disabled facilities. Open all day from 11.30. There is a shortcut to the ground from this pub – the landlady points fans in the right direction.

The Honeywell Inn, HoneyWell Street.

Small traditional pub, with separate pool room, TV, darts, open 11.15 – 4 & 5.30 – 11

The Travellers Rest, Intake Lane. Small traditional pub with TV, pool & darts. Food served 12 – 8pm. Open all day from 12.

Alternatively, especially if travelling by train, in the past I have found it worthwhile to go to one of the pubs in Sheffield near the station - and then to get a train to Barnsley nearer to kick off - trains run quite frequently from Sheffield to Barnsley.

Not far from the away end is a leisure centre called the Metro Dome which has a bar & also serves food and a lot of palace fans in there last year!

No beer is served to away fans inside the ground.

Pubs to avoid
*************

The Groggers Rest - by the bus station
The Mount - on Pontefract Road, closest pub to the ground.
Tommy Wallocks, Maceys, Ticket Office - town centre pubs.

Away colours on and walking through the town after the match is a
sure fire way to invite trouble - although there isn't usually too
much aggro - it has been known - so it is best to stick together in
a group.

Food

The meat & potato pies in the ground are reputed to be good
