Official Palace Travel

Coaches: Depart Selhurst Park at 7.30am - fare is 16.50 for gold members, 19.80 for season/members and 22.00 for non-members.

Train:
Due to a change in train company policy there are no longer any refunds for any reason whatsoever and tickets are now only on sale up to the Saturday before the away game, i.e. 1 week before as final numbers have to be given on the Monday before a Saturday game.

For those booked on the train – it departs Euston at 8.50 - arriving Manchester at 12.32. Leaves Manchester at 6.26pm arriving Euston 10.15pm

If you still want to go by train but can't get tickets on Virgin Trains services you might want to try GNER to Leeds and then ARRIVA Trains Northern to Manchester. It's,
unbelievably, quicker (and cheaper) than Euston - Piccadilly direct with Virgin.

Directions from South.

Leave the M6 at Junction 19 at roundabout turn right and follow the A556 towards Stockport and then join the M56 after just over 4 miles at the Bowden Roundabout (right turn) . Leave the M56 at junction 3 after nearly 7 miles and follow the A5103 towards Manchester. At next junction go straight on. After about 1 1/2 miles get into right hand lane, and turn right at lights into Wilbraham Road. After 0.2 miles turn left into Lloyd Street South. Maine Road is down sidestreets on RHS after 0.6 miles

Directions from North & East (M62 from Leeds)

Exit M62 at junction 18 and head south onto m60 to junction 5, turn right at roundabout onto Princess Road After about 1 1/2 miles get into right hand lane, and turn right at lights into Wilbraham Road. After 0.2 miles turn left into Lloyd Street South. Maine Road is down sidestreets on RHS after 0.6 miles

Alternatively - Continue westbound on M60 round the west of Manchester. As the M62 becomes the M60, follow signs to Stockport M60 remaining throughout on the M60. Exit at junction 12. Keepin left hand lanes onto M602. Straight on for nearly 6 miles . Immediately after underpass exit at signs for Chester M56 & Birmingham M6. At roundabout take 3rd exit onto Princess Road. After just over a mile turn left towards ground.

Parking
'Following the A5103 the first "official" car park you come to isn't official and it's a mile from the ground. That far away. Just park on the road (Mauldeth Road West). Local schools (Platt Lane, Claremont Road) offer nearer supervised car parking. Side-street parking near the ground is either residents-only or not too safe'

Whalley Range High School offers protected parking for 2.00. Wilbraham High School charges 1.00 (junction of Hart road and Platt Lane) Heald Place Primary School charges 3.00 and is at the junction of Claremont Road and Heald Place. There are 300 spaces at the Platt lane Complex and the Hough End playing fields opposite the Princess pub (3.00)

From Train Station - Manchester Piccadilly

About 2 miles. Taxis cost around 3.00. Buses - the main bus station is situated at Piccadilly gardens. Turn right out of the station, down the hill. Take buses no.s 11, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46 and ask to be dropped off at Platt Lane. Alternatively - nos 101, 104, 105, 106, 108, 109, 110 - drop you off at Princess Road depot, 10 minute walk to the ground.

Disabled facilities

6 spaces for away fans in North Stand. Free for disabled person, 5.00 for helper. booking is necessary. no parking is available. For blind supporters - 22 seats with commentary are available at the back of block g in the main stand.

Pubs
Visiting supporters are welcome at Manchester City’s training complex at Platt Lane, on the corner of Yew Tree Road. Families are welcome - open from 12-3 and from 7pm. Please book for a pre-match meal - 0161 257 0009

The Fallowfield - 68 Wilbraham road - large football friendly pub, food served 12-4 & 6-10 Open all day

The Princess - 252 Mauldeth Road West, Chorton-Cum-Hardy.
The best pub for away supporters is The Princess, it is about 1.5 miles from the ground on the corner of Princess Parkway (A5103) and Mauldeth Road West on the A56 Anyone approaching from the south can't miss it. The beer is ok but nothing special. Open all day.

The Sherwood Inn - 417 Claremont Road. Open all day

The Hardy’s Well - 257 Wimslow Road - serves a special football menu

The Welcome - 2 Hythe Close (off Dickenson Road)

'away fans should avoid, the Parkside (Lloyd Street), the Claremont (Claremont Road) and the Lord Lyon (also Claremont Road), all within reasonable walking distance of the ground. Just around the corner of The Lord Lyon are two pubs called The Gardeners Arms and The Osborne, which may be okay for away fans'.

I would avoid any pubs nearer to the ground. Most of them are restricted to home fans anyway.

The two cheapest pubs in Manchester are the Crown & Anchor and Sinclairs Oyster House, both next to Marks & Sparks! Crown is a right old Cronies place, Sinclairs has a bit more atmosphere. Less than £1.60 a pint in both places.

Food

There is a mobile van at the back of the Kippax selling sausages & burgers. City Chippy on Claremont Road. Blue Moon Chippy on Maine Road, and Claremont Chippy near junction of Claremont Road and Princess Road.

The Curry Mile is in Rusholme. Possibly Wilmslow Road. The pubs are a bit downmarket round there though. In Rusholme "Al Bilal" is about the tastiest curry house, closely followed by "Mowgli!"

Nightlife:

The Venue is OK, pokey, dark, and they play indie.

The Fab Cafe is a said to be a “nerd's paradise” but we went there last year prior to the Stockport game and enjoyed ourselves – might well go back again on Saturday night….

"42nd Street" too & none of the above have any serious dress restrictions.

For somewhere a bit classier "The Printworks" is a complex of about 16 pubs, clubs and restaurants as well as a cinema where you don't even have to go outside. "Tiger Tiger" is the most popular club in there, it's OK.

See you in Manchester….
