BY CAR:
From the North, East, South & West: by the Coming in from the Midlands or the North, Norwich is served A14, A11 and A47. Major trunk roads to the Norwich area are the M11 (via Ipswich from the South, the East of England and the ferry port of Harwich. Carrow Road is situated near to the Railway station in the Southeast of central Norwich. Carrow Road is linked by the Inner Ring Road (A147), Thorpe Rd (A1104) and the A47 and is well signposted.

From all directions you can take the A47 Southern by pass towards the A146 & follow the signs to the ground.

From the South - leave M25 at junction 28, where you join A12 following signs to Chelmsford. in about 10 miles at the junction with A106/B1002 follow signs to Colchester. In a further 26 miles at the junction with the A1124 follow signs to Ipswich. Proceed a further 17 miles and ten take the A14 (Bury St Edmonds). After 8 miles take the A140 to Norwich. In a further 32 miles, at the junction with the A47 follow signs for Great Yarmouth. After 2.5 miles exit at A146 to Norwich. Turn left at lights. At next set of lights turn right, (City Centre A1054) At roundabout after 1/3 of a mile take 1st exit for County Hall car park, or 2nd exit for ground - keep in right hand lane and turn right into King Street (A47, Ring Road), over river, straight over at lights towards ground on right hand side.

From Ipswich (A140) - take 3rd exit at roundabout (Norwich E, Great Yarmouth A47, football ground) onto A47. After just over 2 miles exit A47 (Lowestoft A146). At lights turn left (Norwich A146) At T junction after nearly 2 miles turn right (Ring road, City Centre A1054) At roundabout after 1/3 of a mile take 1st exit for County Hall car park, or 2nd exit for ground - keep in right hand lane and turn right into King Street (A47, Ring Road), over river, straight over at lights towards ground on right hand side.

From West (A47) - at roundabout go straight on (Norwich E, Great Yarmouth A47). The A47 becomes the Norwich Southern Bypass. Stay on A47 for just over 10 miles. Exit at Lowestoft A146, Trowse, football ground sign.

If lost try asking for Coleman’s Mustard Factory or County Hall, both of which are near the ground. The Ground is well signposted from both the A11 and A47.

PARKING

Parking can be a nightmare in Norwich on a Saturday. Residents parking areas have been extended so be careful, as roads you may have parked in previously may now be residents only.

There were changes to the car parking arrangements for away fans at the start of the 1999-00 season. There has been major redevelopment of the site that backs on to the ground, and because of this the old car park is now a building site. Therefore the best car park for away fans is Norfolk County Hall, which is well sign posted on the left of the A146, as you follow signs towards the ground from the Southern Bypass. It is currently £2 and can hold about 2000 cars, and does usually fill up by 2pm for games so as our allocation is sold out it would be advisable to get to the car park as early as possible, and probably by 1pm at the lates.. Having said that, getting to the car park will get you a better spot for a quick exit!

The away coaches par in Lower Clarence Road, where there are spaces for cars too. 2.00 for cars and 10.00 for coaches.

There is a park and ride car park in Kerrison Road right next to the ground. It costs 2.00 which includes a bus ticket to the city centre - which still has to be paid even if you are only going to the ground.

Some charities take over company car parks on Thorpe Road, & only charge £1.50.

The closest pay & display is located in Rouen Road, and holds about 500 cars. The town centre is only about a 15 minute walk from the ground, and there are numerous well signposted car parks.

Getting to Norwich by Sea
Car and passenger ferries are operated daily between Harwich and the Continent.
The Hook of Holland (Stena), Hamburg, Gothenburg and Esbjerg (Scandinavian Seaways) are linked with Harwich (adjacent to Felixtowe).

Getting to Norwich by Air
Norwich is home to a major regional airport with over 300 world-wide connections via Manchester or Amsterdam. London Stansted is also within easy reach by road (65 miles).
KLM UK provide both domestic and overseas flights to and from Norwich.
For more information, contact Norwich Airport on (01603) 411923.

PUBS
There are a number of good, friendly pubs situated in-between the train station and the ground. In fact you could end up having a pub crawl before the match had begun!

UNFORTUNATELY THE CLARENCE HARBOUR IS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS L A compulsory purchase order has meant that properties are being developed in it’s place

The Ferry Boat seems to be the best alternative as it is 5 mins from the ground and away supporters & families are welcome. It is a short walk across Carrow Bridge - good food and beer all round!

The Compleat Angler –is recommended as an alternative by the Internet Football Fan’s guide - it is right outside the station - but again was a welcoming pub a few seasons back. However be warned this has known to be shut pre and/or post match. It is only 5 mins walk from the ground

The Coach and Horses - 82 Thorpe Road
Open all day (01603 477077). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as "home of the Chalk Hill Brewery ... serving an excellent selection of competitively-priced ales, mild and cider. Quality food served from 12 noon to 9pm." Unfortunately a couple of seasons back there was some trouble in this pub – so I wouldn’t particularly recommend it. It’s only a 15 minute walk from the ground.

The Jubilee - 26 St Leonard’s road
Football snack menu - sausages etc. Games room with pool table.
open from 12 noon to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 618734). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as a "friendly, two-bar Victorian pub ... with a patio garden and an upstairs games room." It serves food at lunchtime and is not too far from the station.

Billy Bluelight, 27 Hall Road, open from 12 noon to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 623768). This pub is the Woodforde Brewery's flagship pub and sells (according to CAMRA's Good Beer Guide (GBG) 2000) " a wide range of their own brews, including the two house beers and guest ales." Food is served at lunchtime and you can even camp there apparently! It is not too far from Carrow Road.

King's Arms, 22 Hall Road, open from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 766361). This pub sells a wide range of real ales and at least one real cider and was (according to the GBG 2000) "voted No.1 Public House by readers of the Eastern Evening News." It is not too far from carrow Road and is near the Billy Bluelight pub, mentioned earlier.

Steam Packet, 39 Crown Road (behind Anglia TV), open from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays (01603 441545). This pub is described in the GBG 2000 as having "the best beer within easy reach of the Waterfont. ... No-smoking area available lunchtime." It also serves food at lunchtime and is not too far from the station.

Wildman pub, Bedford Street – in main town centre area – food served 11am – 2.30pm Mon – Sat, 12-2 on Sunday, (and the food was very good last year)

The leisure complex called Riverside has a number of restaurants, pubs etc plus a Weatherspoons. However this are is predominantly home supporters and many of the bars will not admit or serve fans in away colours

There is also a pub on the A11 from London called the Larling Angel, which always welcomes away supporters coaches, and is, apparently, the only pub on that route.

FOOD

There should be a burger bar on the corner by the visitors turnstiles or near the station is a pizza restaurant & takeaway which also does fish and chips. Kabin snack bar opposite the station by the river, does sandwiches and breakfasts. You can get a good, reasonably-priced meal in the Morrisons supermarket opposite the ground. But be warned that the service can be slow, so allow plenty of time. Next to the stadium is Morrisons, Big W, and a travel shop that all have cafe's.
There is also a Kentucky Fried Chicken opposite Norwich station. If you walk up towards the river (opposite the station) there is the Riverside complex where you can get a more substantial meal and/or drinks.

Inside the ground - cornish pasties are personally recommended & also the sausage rolls are reported to be good although food seems to run out very quickly. Steak & kidney pies not recommended!

Norwich itself is a beautiful city, with plenty of history to be seen and a nice river flowing through it. So if you get chance get there early and go for a pleasant wander around the centre stopping at the occasional watering hole along the way. Great Yarmouth is not far away on the coast so why not make a weekend of it?
